Staff Advisory Council

Purpose or Function: The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) is an elected body of non-faculty employees. As a recommending and advisory body, the council reports to the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration and/or the President of the University. The organization functions in accordance with its constitution. The Council serves to represent all benefits-eligible employees of the University not currently represented by other bodies of representative governance (i.e., President's Cabinet and Faculty Senate).

Membership:   Membership is defined in the SAC Constitution. Currently the constitution says that the Council will consist of no fewer than 17 and no more than 25 members. There will be no less than two (2) representatives elected at-large, and 15 representatives elected from six (6) modified Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) categories at a ratio of one (1) Council representative for each 30 classification members or portion thereof with a minimum of 2 representatives from each EEOC category.

Council representatives are elected to two-year terms. To be eligible to serve on the Council, prospective representatives must have completed one year of employment at TAMU-CC prior to the election of Council representatives. Representatives must be full-time employees at the time of election. A designated representative of the Department of Human Resources will serve as a resource to the Council. Membership requirements may change if the SAC Constitution is amended.

Presiding Officer: Staff Advisory Council President (elected annually by membership)

SAC committees include Executive Committee, Nominations and Elections Committee, Bylaws and Constitution Committee, Benefits and Employee Development Committee, and University Relations Committee.
