Keeping Our Thumbs Green
For nearly two decades Daniel "Danny" Salazar's main objective has been to preserve a beautiful campus for everyone to enjoy - and he does it with a smile. Daniel, a groundskeeper, begins a full day at 5 a.m. planting, fertilizing and watering colorful blooms, trimming trees, mowing lawns, digging ditches, fixing broken lines and power-washing stains. And the list goes on. He is responsible for the outdoor upkeep of many buildings including the Center for Instruction, the Mary and Jeff Bell Library, the Center for the Sciences, and the Hector P. Garcia Plaza. Daniel, who operates equipment ranging from manlifts to tractors, learned his skill from an uncle who was a University grounds foreman.
