A South Texas Superstar

Since earning her degree in 1998, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi alumnus Barbi Leo has maintained exciting careers as a Morning Show Personality for KSAB-FM Radio and as a Co-Host for the Domingo Live Show on KIII TV 3. She says she owes much of her success to the Coastal Bend community.

“I have been incredibly blessed in my career thanks to the people in our community,” said Leo. “They have been vital to my success.”

Leo, who is also a Realtor, is also thankful for her education, which she says helped prepare her for many of her accomplishments.

“Texas A&M-Corpus Christi provided me with the solid educational foundation I needed to succeed in my career,” she said. “I developed a memorable relationship with the professors that helped lead to my success. They truly cared and were just as invested in my future as I was.”

While a student, Leo was Student Government Association President in her first year at the University. She also gave of her time as an Island Ambassador and a Peer Educator.

After graduating from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a minor in Communication, she was offered a job as a Morning Show Personality, and head of Promotions and Public Relations for KSAB-FM Radio. The radio show has held their spot in the top five, ranking in the Nielsen Audio Radio Market Rankings since Leo joined the team.  Leo, who has also received numerous awards, has been dubbed “Princess of the Airwaves” by Tejano y Grupero News and an Honoree Inductee of the Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame.

Last year, Leo was honored with the CCU40’s Top 40 under 40 Award for her significant contributions in her professional field, as well as through service in the community. In addition to speaking at area schools, Leo has volunteered her time to assist with events benefiting individuals with Down syndrome, the Junior League of Corpus Christi, Driscoll Children’s Hospital, and many other organizations.

“I plan to continue serving my community in any way possible and supporting them as they have supported me,” she said.
