Spelling out Student Success
Doctoral student Sylvia Prezas says her philosophy is to develop the hearts and minds of children and guide them toward success. As principal of Los Encinos SES Elementary School, Prezas and her staff provide students with a positive learning environment that includes clubs, mentors, family projects and real world applications. The Corpus Christi native graduates in December with a doctorate in educational leadership. She began attending Corpus Christi State University in 1978 earning her BS and MS. Prezas, who has been a principal for 17 years, is a virtual mentor for University Educational Administration interns. She has presented at statewide conferences on student achievement and leadership and is a member of the Superintendent's Advisory Leadership Team. The Texas Education Agency has designated Los Encinos as an Exemplary, Recognized and Blue Ribbon School. This summer, Prezas will publish her first children's book "Gigi Learns Her Vowels."
