I Can Help You
Wendy Thompson has taken a special interest in impacting the lives of others during her 12 years as a staff member at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She has done many things in her career at the University, but there is one thing she has never done.  Thompson has never once uttered the words, “Sorry, I can’t help you.”  No matter how busy, Thompson always makes the time to find the answers and follow up on issues for students, parents, community members, faculty, and administrators alike. According to Thompson, being able to present a solution or an opportunity whenever someone is faced with a challenge is very rewarding. Given her commitment to outstanding service, it is no surprise that Thompson is a past recipient of the Employee Excellence Award.  The Corpus Christi native, who started as a senior secretary in the College of Liberal Arts, has served as the executive assistant to three different deans in the college.  In addition to her daily duties, she is ready to lend a hand wherever needed. She volunteers each semester at commencement, showing her support for students as they reach their dream of attaining a four-year degree. She served as president of the Staff Advisory Council in 2007-2008 and was appointed to the SACS Compliance Report Steering Committee. In addition, she has given much of her time to assist at a number of campus events including the State of the University luncheon, the Faculty/Staff Barbecue, Employee Development Day, and Administrative Professional’s Day. Thompson also finds time to volunteer for many fundraisers. She has participated as a member of the Lifesavers team for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life campus event. She co-chaired the State Employee Charitable Campaign for three years in which the University received a special recognition award for the “Most Successful Campaign.”  Thompson is a lover of the outdoors and her favorite pastime is riding down the open road on the back of a Harley-Davidson.
