It's Alumni Business

Gloria Ann Valdez has always been eager to learn. To further her career after 18 years in the banking industry, she enrolled at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 1996. She joined the Student Accounting Society Organization on campus and was elected treasurer, a position she held up to graduation. Valdez graduated with her BBA in Accounting in December 2000. Three years later, she accepted a position as business coordinator in the College of Business. As president of the Anchor Alumni Club (AAC), she invites University employees who are Texas A&M-Corpus Christi graduates to join the organization. In the AAC, members have the opportunity to volunteer at Homecoming celebrations, recruitment and graduation events and attend sporting events as a group. Valdez also represents the organization on the Board of Directors for the National Alumni Association and is a member of the Corpus Christi Area Alumni Club. In August 2008, Valdez was awarded a five-year service pin. Seven months later, she accepted her current position as an Accountant III in Fiscal Affairs Department at the Island University. In her spare time, Valdez likes to read, watch movies and, as a member of Lexington Baptist Church, she makes time to assist senior citizens with errands.
