Economic Forecaster
As an economist, Dr. Jim Lee wants to do his part to help this community thrive and raise the quality of life for its residents. The professor of economics serves as a liaison between the city and the University, and as long as Corpus Christi needs him, he'll supply his expertise on major community projects. Lee arrived at the University 10 years ago from Fort Hays State University in Kansas. The Hong Kong native, who studied in Canada and earned his Ph.D. at Penn State University, conducts research in monetary policy, business cycles, financial market volatility, global market competitiveness and local economic development. Currently, he's engaged in Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation's "Think Big" project to aid in boosting long-term job creation and income growth in the area, and he's evaluating the economic impact of the Base Realignment and Closure study. Lee has also conducted studies with the Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. He has been published in numerous peer reviewed national and international journals, and has won many awards. In February he presented at the Eastern Economic Association Meetings in Boston. Lee's also the editor of "Economic Pulse," a College of Business newsletter.
