Onward and Upward

For Jonas Chupe it’s all about leading by example to inspire young professionals to roll up their sleeves and take ownership in the city’s economic development. He is a founding member and treasurer of the Young Business Professionals of the Coastal Bend, an organization that works with community leaders and sponsors events highlighting topics that impact the region. Chupe, an Aransas Pass, Texas, native and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi alumnus, encourages people to build their lives in Corpus Christi and give the younger generation reasons to stay and contribute to the growth of the city. He received his BBA in Finance in 2007 and an MBA with a concentration in International Business (summa cum laude) three years later. He is now pursuing his Master of Accountancy at the University and is a relationship manager for Frost Bank where he has worked since 2007. Through his education, Chupe strongly believes he has developed the skills needed to become a community leader. He admits he had exceptional university mentors in Dr. W. Scott Sherman, Dr. Karen Middleton and Sharon Polansky. Chupe, who admits he is fascinated by the economy, aspires to become the Frost Bank regional president for the Corpus Christi market within the next 25 years. He also aspires to be an effective community leader. Chupe is a member of Leadership Corpus Christi Class 39, a Lichtenstein Scholar, a recipient of several graduate scholarships and academic recognitions from the College of Business, and a member of Golden Key International Honor Society and Beta Gamma Sigma.
