On a Mission to Save Lives

In keeping true to HALO-Flight’s mission, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi alumna Stephanie Murphy is inspired to know that if any of her friends or family becomes ill or injured, HALO-Flight would have the potential to save their lives.

Murphy graduated with her Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in Communication and Political Science in 2012. Her education and experience have assisted her in transitioning into the role of Marketing Director for HALO-Flight Inc.

“I love knowing that every day, HALO-Flight is saving lives, and that my contribution helps keep the organization moving forward,” said Murphy. “We have a family at HALO-Flight, and I enjoy constantly seeing the positive impact we make in the community.”

In her position, Murphy focuses on areas of brand management and awareness, along with public affairs, through internal and external communication strategies and multiple marketing and social media channels. She also coordinates the organization’s three signature fundraising events.

HALO-Flight Inc., was established in 1987 by a group of concerned citizens, physicians, and civic groups to begin an air ambulance service in the south Texas area that would cut out harmful delays for patients.

Murphy, who was born and raised in Corpus Christi, is passionate about her local community. She shows her dedication to her community by working with an organization whose main mission is to give back. She also serves as a board member for the Coastal Bend Chapter of AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals).

After earning her degree at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Murphy secured an internship as the Communication Coordinator at the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce. She later went on to become the Marketing Director for HALO-Flight Inc.

“The most advantageous thing for me while in school was getting an internship,” she said. “It wasn’t a paid internship, but the level of commitment I gave and the amount of experience that I received were a tremendous help because I was offered a job there after graduation. Even without the job offer though, the internship would have been invaluable.”
