Living for the Real World
Jay Garcia strongly advises students to get involved at school and pursue the networking opportunities available. The soon-to-graduate senior majoring in marketing and minoring in communications learned all about business management last summer as a 2008 Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) corporate intern. Being hired to intern for Sodexo's Healthcare Division, Jay spent 10 weeks in Michigan, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Detroit. During his HACU internship, the San Antonio native interacted with CEOs and began building his professional network. The University President's Ambassador says his interest to participate in other campus groups grew once he became active in Phi Delta Theta. The fraternity's former vice president has interned with the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and belongs to numerous campus organizations and societies. Jay has received many University awards including the 2008 "Greek Man of the Year." This well-rounded student also participates in intramural sports ranging from flag football to soccer.
