Shaping Future Leaders
Stephanie Arevalo is motivating students to become future leaders. The University alumnus and the Recreational Sports assistant director of facilities has set a shining example for the 40 student employees she supervises. Before graduating in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in sports management, Arevalo worked as a student in Rec Sports. While attending the University, she was inspired by mentor Lisa Perez, director of student activities. Arevalo, a native of Premont who returned to the University in 2005 with her master's degree to become a facility coordinator, works in the new Dugan Wellness Center where she oversees daily operations - from purchasing equipment to conducting student staff development and training. The first aid/CPR/AED certified instructor also serves on the Waves of Welcome committee and volunteers for the National Kidney Foundation's U.S. Transplant Games, which were held last July in Pittsburgh, Penn. Her interests include teaching fitness classes and keeping up with home projects.
