Reducing Our Ecological Footprints
In the midst of preserving the planet, political science major Phillip Levasseur maintains a 3.9 grade point average. The McNair scholar, who voices environmental advocacy, also will receive a minor in business when he graduates in May. He has reduced the use of plastic bags on campus and has taken National Spill Control School courses. Phillip, a New Jersey native, also participates in the Islander Student Environmental Action League's recycling program. His future goal is to create policies as a federal regulator. Phillip, the only student on the World Affairs Council of South Texas board of directors, is a Student Government Association senior senator and former Honors Student Association president. He has received the Honors Program Scholarship, the Student Affairs Leadership Scholarship and the Luther Jones Scholarship Endowment. In January, he'll participate in the Washington Center's 2009 Presidential Inauguration Seminar.
