Melody Jacobo Named ‘Student Employee of the Year’

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Melody Jacobo, an Art major, was named the 2014-2015 Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi “Student Employee of the Year” at the 12th Annual Student Employee of the Year Award Reception on Thursday, April 16. 

Jacobo, who works for Career Services, received $100 on her SandDollar$ card. Her name will be added to the perpetual plaque located in the Career Services office. 

Other awards included:

  • First runner-up: Maricruz Alvarado, a Communication major who works for Community Outreach. She received $75 on her SandDollar$ card.
  • Second runner-up: Kristi Rogers, an Art major who works for the University Center and Student Activities. She received $50 on her Sand Dollar$ card. 

The “Student Employee of the Year” Program recognizes students who demonstrate reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism, and uniqueness of contribution. This year, 26 out of 900 student workers were nominated for the award. The “Student Employee of the Year” from each participating campus nationwide is forwarded to the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) regional competition. Each regional winner is then considered for the National Student Employee of the Year award.
