The Office of International Education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi celebrated International Education Week (IEW) from November 17-20 with a variety of on-campus events.

Events kicked off on November 17 with the “Parade of Flags” celebration, where students representing countries from around the globe proudly marched through the University campus displaying flags from their native countries.

That same day, students also enjoyed refreshments of various cultures during the “Flavors of the World” event held at the Library Breezeway. There was also a movie screening of the Saudi Arabian movie, “Wadjda,” and information tables displaying information to students regarding the cultures that were being presented. The second day of IEW was celebrated with the screening of the movie, “The White Silk Dress.”

“International Education Week gives us the chance to celebrate diversity and inclusion,” said Ana Billeaux, Director for the Office of International Education at Texas A&M -Corpus Christi. “It gives us the opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education, to highlight the many cultures represented on campus, and to give domestic students a little taste of what the world has to offer.”

The week concluded with the “Around the World” event held on November 20. The event was created and performed by students representing the countries of Colombia, Vietnam, and Saudi Arabia. There, students, faculty, and staff had the opportunity to learn new dance routines and sample a “Taste of International Treats.”
