CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Two winners earned the titles of “Junior Idol of Corpus Christi” and “Corpus Christi Idol” during the solo talent competitions held February 21-22 at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Performing Arts Center.
Emma Ehle, 6th grader at Baker Middle School, took first place in the second “Junior Idol of Corpus Christi” finals competition. Jose Acevedo took first place for “Corpus Christi Idol.” Ehle received $100 and Acevedo received $300 for their first place finishes.
“I really love singing,” said Ehle, the Jr. Idol winner. ”I’ve always wanted to enter into a competition like this. It was really fun.”

Around 200 Coastal Bend residents auditioned for the cometitions at La Palmera Mall. Twenty finalists were selected to compete in “Junior Idol of Corpus Christi” and “Corpus Christi Idol.”
With the valued support of sponsor La Palmera Mall as well as the support of all who attended the auditions and finale events, “Junior Idol of Corpus Christi” and “Corpus Christi Idol” raised $6,000 in funds for scholarships and programming for the Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
