CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas—A new report published by Affordable Colleges (AC) Online ranks Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi as a top university in Texas for affordable and quality online education and for return on investment.

“Providing an affordable education for our students has always been a top priority,” said University President Flavius Killebrew. “It’s our mission to maintain a high standard of academic excellence that will help students succeed in their careers, including those in underserved areas.”

AC Online looked at 452 Texas institutions and ranked Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi 19th in the state for return on investment.  They gathered wage information from the 2013 College Earnings Report by PayScale.com, Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System, the National Center for Education Statistics, and the Carnegie Foundation. AC Online then calculated how much more money the average college graduate made than the average high school graduate.  With an Island University degree, the average over 30 years is $560,200 more, or $18,673 more per year.

The Island University was also ranked 21st in the state for offering affordable and quality online courses and degrees.

A&M-Corpus Christi students can choose from 14, fully-online degree programs, or they can take a mix of face-to-face courses and online courses. Several core curriculum courses and hundreds of other courses are blended or fully online. Students are well supported by instructors, support services, and the Islander community.

“Our instructors are dedicated to creating online courses that engage students in authentic activities and prepare them for problem-solving and careers in the world beyond school,” said Dr. Lauren Cifuentes, Director of Distance Education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

That includes the University’s online Master of Science in Nursing degree programs which are ranked as a top online programs by U.S. News and World Reports.  Cifuentes says the online offerings at the University will continue to grow to meet student needs.

“Within five years, all instructors will deliver their courses as web-enhanced, blended, or fully online,” said Cifuentes. “Students can work from home, or wherever they are, and will be able to tailor their experience to their individual situations and learning styles.”

AC Online identified the colleges and universities in each state with the most affordable online degree programs. AC Online focused specifically on distance learning options from public and private non-profit institutions with full accreditation.

“Offering students great online programs is only half the battle,” said Dan Schuessler, founder and CEO of AC Online. “The colleges on our list offer students quality, flexibility and affordability.”
