CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The fifth annual Parents’ Weekend Brunch attracted a record-setting audience of more than 250 parents and students on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Attendees enjoyed meeting with University President and CEO, Dr. Flavius Killebrew, who spoke on the growing enrollment of almost 11,000 students; the largest-freshmen class ever; and new buildings.  Provost Chris Markwood thanked parents for contributing more than $80,000 to the Parents’ Council Fund.  College deans and faculty members were also present during the brunch.

The event, which was hosted by the Parents’ Council, was part of the fall 2013 Parents’ Weekend, which was held November 1-3.  University students and their parents, faculty, staff, and family members were invited to join the University celebration with a line-up of fun and engaging activities that included the “Islander Revue” music and dance extravaganza the Official Ring Ceremony, and the Women’s Islanders volleyball and soccer events.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Parents' Council is a group of more than 700 Islander parents who maintain their membership through annual gifts during New Student Orientation. These funds provide a number of opportunities for students. The Parents’ Council Chair is Elva Rodriguez.

The Parents’ Council serves to involve Islander families in campus activities which promote the University, enrich the college experience for both students and parents, while supporting the financial needs of the University.
