November 19, 2013

Brouillard MCAT

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas- Dr. Pamela Brouillard, a Professor of Psychology at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, is helping prepare students for the revised Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), which will be administered in 2015.

As part of that revision, the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) creators of the MCAT, is collaborating with Kahn Academy (http://www.khanacademy.org) to offer an innovative online study resource for the revised MCAT.

As one of six AAMC academic reviewers for this project, Brouillard’s role will be to work with content creators to ensure content accuracy in the psychology videos and resources questions developed for the MCAT guide.

The MCAT has undergone major changes to expand the psychology portion of the exam. Most students choose to use outside resources to prepare for this entrance exam.  The Khan Academy, which is an online resource for tutorials of educational studies, has held a video competition for students to submit content videos to be used as part of the on-line resources on the Kahn website dealing with the new MCAT changes.

The AAMC is overseeing the entire project and is also overseeing the content development of the online resources. The Khan Academy video competition allows students to submit content videos to be used as part of the on-line resources on the Kahn site.
