Student Nursing Association Members Honored for Volunteer Service

SNA Recognition

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – More than 40 members of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Student Nursing Association (SNA) were honored during the first-ever SNA recognition banquet held on Thursday, Aug. 8, in the University Center.

Members received their honor cords and were recognized for their hours of volunteer service. This year alone, SNA members contributed more than 1,000 hours of volunteer service to the campus and Coastal Bend community.  Each of the members are required to complete four hours of volunteer service every semester; however, many of the students exceeded the requirement, some even completing more than 120 hours. The celebratory banquet was organized by SNA President-Elect, Austin Stout.

“It was important for me to put this event together so that the members of SNA are recognized,” said Stout. “I wanted to also take the time to invite family and friends of these members to this recognition ceremony so that they see how hard each SNA member has worked.”

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS) encourages students during their freshmen year to become part of the SNA for its connections to the College and for networking opportunities with fellow students, nursing faculty, and nursing professionals across the state.

“When we started SNA, it was very small,” said Dr. Bunny Forgione, Associate Dean for the CONHS. “Now it has grown to 200 members strong, and is the largest student organization on campus.”
