CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Edward Tyndall, Assistant Professor of Media Production, will screen his award-winning film “Reconvergence” on Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m. in the H-E-B Auditorium of the Art Museum of South Texas, 1902 N Shoreline Blvd. The screening is part of the South Texas Cinémathèque spring showcase.

“Reconvergence,” which has been screened internationally, has received several awards  including Excellence in Filmmaking Award (Indie Memphis Film Festival), Goujon Caille Award for Best Documentary (Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival), Golden Lion Award for Best Documentary and the Special Jury Award for Best Score (Lindsey Film Festival).

“The thing that makes “Reconvergence” work was the collaboration between some very talented people that I was lucky enough to work with like Cinematographer David Lowery, Composer Jason Wells, and Producer Patrick Weaver,” said Tyndall, who directed the film. “Filmmaking is a collaborative art, and people always talk to the director of the film, but the director is only part of the equation. This film has a lot of really great people who worked on it, and we’re all thrilled that it has a chance to screen in Corpus Christi.”

“Reconvergence” explores the nature of modern human existence, identity, and consciousness from the perspectives of four distinct characters: a naturalist, a neuroscientist, a poet, and a historian.  The combination of their separate journeys creates a rich tapestry that weaves together several complex facets of the existential dilemma. The result is a rich and exhilarating movie-going experience that opens up the viewer to distinctive ideas and new ways of thinking about humanity and our place in the universe.

Following the film, there will be a question-and-answer session with Tyndall, and  Patrick Weaver, Producer.

The South Texas Cinémathèque film screening series, designed to bring internationally-recognized filmmakers to Corpus Christi, is sponsored in part by Adobe and hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and the Art Museum of South Texas.
