Three University Students Qualify for National Competition after Placing within Top Three at ACUI Regional Tournament

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Three students from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi placed within the top three spots in their respective divisions at the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Region 12 Recreation and Leisure Tournament held February 23-24, at Sam Houston State University.

The students competed against several other universities including University of Houston, University of Texas-Dallas, and University of Texas-San Antonio in a variety of divisions such as 9-Ball Billiards, Table Tennis, and Madden Football.  

Tournament winners from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi were:

  • Xiaoling (Shelly) Huang, first place- Women's Table Tennis
  • LA Tai Beo second place- Men's Table Tennis
  • Amber Sullins, third place- Women's Billiards

ACUI is a professional association comprised of those working in college and university student unions and student activities programs as well as, students working or volunteering in roles in these areas. ACUI is an international association made up of members from all over the world. The association is broken into 15 geographical regions. Region 12 serves those in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mexico, and Texas.  Both Huang and Le have qualified for the National Table Tennis Competition that will take place in St. Louis, Mo., later this year.
