Students Present Research Findings at McNair Conference

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –Four Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi students presented their undergraduate research findings at the 21st annual National McNair Research Conference and Graduate Fair, held November 9-11 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The conference included more than 50 of the country's top graduate schools, workshops, networking activities, and student presentations.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi students gave the following research presentations:

  • Emilio R. Vasquez, a junior biomedical student: “The Effect of Taurine Chloramine on Staphylococcus Epidermidis as a Potential Treatment to Pathogenicity.”
  • John D. Tucker, a junior sociology student: “Occupy the Newspapers: A Content Analysis of Newspapers Framing the Occupy Wall Street Movement.”
  • Sabrina Del Moral, a junior sociology student: “What Do They Want to be When They Grow Up and Why?”
  • Sarah Pons, a junior art history student: “The Iconography in the Art of Salvador Dali to be Viewed as Possible Indications of Childhood Sexual Abuse and Repressed Homosexuality.”

 

The National McNair Research Conference has been designed to provide undergraduate students the opportunity to explore graduate study as a realistic option.
