Graduate Sculpture Displayed on Campus

November 02, 2012

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – This semester, graduate students in the art department have been displaying their works all across campus.  As you stroll past the University Center, you may feel the presence of a giant hovering over you, as one of the graduate’s sculptures stands two stories tall near the entrance.

Across from the newly-built parking garage, a mass of knotted wood is on display for pedestrians and commuters to see. A third sculpture is located in the big grass lawn across from the Center for Instruction. All three sculptures have their own plaque with the Artists' names, titles of the works, and date.

“By designing, fabricating, and installing all of their own sculptures, graduate students have the opportunity to prepare for success in the competitive world of art and arts education at the highest levels,” according to the Art Department Chair Jack Gron.
