Dr. Faye Bruun Appointed to TAMS Advisory Board

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Dr. Faye Bruun, an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, to the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) Advisory Board. The nine-member committee advises the Dean of the academy on admission policies, curricula, and other policies at the school located at the University of North Texas.

Bruun will serve through May 2, 2018. She is also Director of the College and Career Readiness Initiative Science Faculty Collaborative and Coastal Bend Regional Science Fair, and Faculty Advisor of the University’s Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

“It is important to focus on inspiring our Texas students to pursue studies in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by increasing access to rigorous, college-level coursework,” said Bruun.

Bruun is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Texas Association of Mathematics Educators. She is Secretary of the Texas Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and Treasurer and Past-President of the Coastal Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
