Dr. Hernandez Receives Outstanding Alumni Award

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Dr. Arthur Hernandez, Dean of the College of Education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, has received the Outstanding Alumni Award from Texas A&M University-College Station.

The Outstanding Alumni Award is the highest honor that Texas A&M University-College Station bestows on former students. To be selected for this prestigious award, nominees must have a record of impressive accomplishments and contributions at the state, national and/or international level; a reputation for being a person of integrity, honesty, and character; and a record of contribution to society through leadership and/or scholarship.

Hernandez received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Education from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio in 1975. He earned a Master of Arts in Psychology with a Specialization in Clinical from St. Mary’s in 1978 and, four years later, his Master of Arts in Psychology with a Specialization in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas-San Antonio. In 1987, he was awarded his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University-College Station.

During his career, Hernandez has taught courses in psychological and educational disciplines and written extensively on measurement and evaluation, psycho-educational interventions, and teaching effectiveness. He is nationally-certified both as a school psychologist and counselor, a diplomat of the American Board of Psychological Specialties, a licensed psychologist, and a licensed specialist in school psychology in Texas. He has served as a member and also chair of the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychologists and as evaluator or evaluator consultant on projects of local, state, and national scope.
