Dr. Juan Carlos Huerta Elected to the APSA Council

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –Dr. Juan Carlos Huerta, Professor of Political Science and Director of the Core Curriculum Programs at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, has been elected to the Council of the American Political Science Association (APSA). 

Dr. Huerta, who will hold his position from 2012-2014, began his service with the APSA in 2004 as part of its Program Committee for the Annual Meeting. Two years later, he served on the Program Committee for the APSA Conference on Teaching and Learning. He was on the Status Committee on Latinos y Latinas in the Profession from 2007-2008 and an APSA Presidential Task Force member from 2008-2010. Currently, Huerta serves as council and secretary-treasurer on the Southwestern Political Science Association. 

Huerta has published research on the outcome of satisfactory learning environments and student learning.  He plans to continue promoting programs that benefit the faculty of regional universities and community colleges through conferences and assessments of effective training.

The APSA, which serves more than 15,000 members in 80 countries, is the leading professional organization for the study of political science.
