Innovation Center Inaugurates Toby Globy Eco Action Program as a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Corporation

April 19, 2012

Toby GlobyAn inauguration of the Toby Globy Eco Action as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation was held April 18 at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center (CBBIC) in Flour Bluff. With the support of the CBBIC, the environmental educational program’s new business model was announced at the event, and the new board of directors were introduced.

The Toby Globy Eco Action program’s “Toby Globy’s Eco Team” is an award-winning environmental education curriculum supplement for classroom use. The program, which has been presented to more than 100,000 elementary students in districts from here to the Valley and Laredo, is for pre-kinder through second grade students and includes interactive DVDs, CDs, activity/coloring books to assist the teacher in training students to be good stewards of the earth.  The program developed by CBBIC client Humberto Almaraz has been adopted by the City of Corpus Christi for use by Head Start, private day care centers, and public elementary schools.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi established the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center in 2009 as part of the College of Business to stimulate job growth by encouraging entrepreneurial economic development of companies that, once established, are committed to remaining in the Coastal Bend. A key component of the Center is its innovative incubator program that targets resources and other services to accelerate their growth and ensure long-term success.
