Voice Students Win Top Singing Awards at NATS Auditions

NATS winnersCORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Three voice students from the Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi received top awards in their divisions at the South Texas District NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Auditions 2012 held March 24 at Texas State University.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi winners were:


  • Lauren Rader – First place winner (category XI). She also received the Alice Dutcher Thornton Award given to the singer with most career potential in this competition.
  • John Washington – Second place winner (category XII).
  • James Dickens – Third place winner (category X).

This year, more than 200 students from across South Texas area participated in the auditions.  NATS is the largest professional association of teachers of singing in the world.
