College of Business Honors C.C. ‘Charlie’ Winn with 2012 Kirkland Award

C.C. WinnCORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The College of Business at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has named C.C. “Charlie” Winn as the 2012 recipient of the G. Russell Kirkland Distinguished Visitor in Business Administration Award.

Winn, founder, chairman, and president of his family-owned oil company, Winn Exploration, Inc., is the 13th recipient of the annual award that was created in 2000 to honor Kirkland’s distinguished service to the University, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Recipients are chosen for their personal accomplishments and contributions to the success of students, faculty, the University, and the Corpus Christi community.

Winn is a member of the advisory board of American Bank in Corpus Christi and has served on the board of trustees for the Texas State Aquarium and the advisory board of Santa Rosa Medical Center.  He was the Texas Ambassador of Goodwill at the inauguration of former Mexican President Adolfo Lopez Mateos, and he has been recognized by the Texas House of Representatives for promoting relations between the United States and Mexico.

Winn will speak to students, faculty and the community on Tuesday, April 24, at 9:30 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center on the University campus. Later in the day, he will be recognized during the annual Honors Luncheon for outstanding College of Business students.
