University Celebrates GenTX Day with Photo on UC East Lawn

April 30, 2012

GenTXCORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Wear your GenTX T-shirt or any Texas A&M-Corpus Christi T-shirt for the GenTX Day campus photo on Friday, May 4, at noon on the University Center, east lawn.  GenTX Day is part of Generation TX, a statewide initiative supported by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board focused on building a college-going culture across the state.

In helping students fulfill their dreams, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will award diplomas to nearly 1,000 students, the University’s largest graduating class-to-date, during two spring commencement ceremonies to be held on Saturday, May 12, at the American Bank Center. The first two graduates from the mechanical engineering program will also share this in special day.

The Coastal Bend Partners for College and Career Readiness P-16 Council is encouraging the Coastal Bend schools, businesses and communities to join the rest of the state on May 4 in celebrating Generation Texas (Gen TX) Day. Communities across the state will show their support for local students and encourage them to continue their educations beyond high school by wearing a college T-shirt. For more information, go to www.GenTX.org.

The Staff Council is selling GenTX T-shirts on weekdays through Thursday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and on Friday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to noon in the University Center commons. All shirts are $5. To purchase a shirt outside of these times, see Stephanie Arevalo in the Dugan Wellness Center, room 110.
