Students Take Second, Third Place at LSAMP Symposium

University-Corpus Christi hosted The Texas A&M University System’s Louis
Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) eighth annual Symposium from
February 23-25.
The following Texas A&M-Corpus Christi students, mentored by Dr. Magesh Thiyagarajan, received awards during the symposium.
- Second place: Eduardo Valdes – a senior mechanical engineering major, tied for second place for his poster presentation titled “Characterization of Diffused Atmospheric Pressure Cold Plasma Reactive Gas Species for Surface Treatment.”
- Third place: Jennifer Ausland – a senior biology major, tied for third place for her poster presentation titled “Deactivation of Bacillus cereus Vegetative Cells and Spores by a Non-thermal Indirect Plasma Exposure for Food Industry.”
The Texas A&M System Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (TAMUS LSAMP) is a partnership comprised of Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and Prairie View A&M University, committed to increasing the number of underrepresented students participating in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.
