CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – High school students in the “Camp on the Coast” Summer Theatre Workshop at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will conclude the two-week residential camp with a performance of “Coram Boy” Thursday, June 26, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Wilson Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts.
The play, based on the children’s novel by Jamila Gavin, will be presented to middle school students in the Young Authors’ Camp, which is also being held on campus. More than 20 theatre campers in costume will dramatize the epic adventure that concerns the theme of child cruelty in 18th century England.
This year, more than 100 high school students from around the state and Florida are enrolled in the Summer Theatre Workshop, which provides a highly intensive and creative theatre experience.
Students perform a one-act play directed by one of six theatre educators. Participants also study acting, voice, and movement in morning classes taught by the University’s theatre faculty. |
