CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – More than 200 teachers from across the Coastal Bend will participate in the (ME)^2 By the Sea Mathematics Conference Friday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Center for Instruction at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
The annual conference, sponsored by the University’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Coastal Council of Teachers of Mathematics (CCTM), emphasizes curriculum alignment and mathematics engagement for students from pre-kindergarten through college. In keeping with this year’s motto of “Making Mathematics Education Engaging,” the 45 conference presentations will feature hands-on activities teachers can use to address a variety of topics on the mathematics curriculum.
“This conference is the largest mathematics education professional development opportunity for teachers of all levels,” said University professor Elaine Young, president of the Coastal Council of Teachers of Mathematics. “Presenters are practicing mathematics teachers and educators, who present ideas for teaching that they have found effective in the classroom.” |
