Middle School Students to Take Part in MATHCOUNTS Competition at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

WHERE: Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Center for Instruction, Room 113

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Students from 12 area middle schools will participate in the regional MATHCOUNTS competition at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Saturday, Feb. 16, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Center for Instruction, room 113.

There will be four rounds of competition followed by an awards ceremony and photo session. Awards will be presented to the top three places in the sprint round, target round and team round. The finale will consist of a countdown round, a head-to-head single elimination contest between the top 10 competitors. The top two teams will advance to the state competition in Austin.

MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide math enrichment program for middle school students. Students compete in teams and as individuals in oral and written matches covering algebra, probability, statistics and geometry.
