| Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Student Newspaper and Literary Magazine Win Awards in TIPA Competition |
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi “Island Waves” student newspaper won eight awards and “The Windward Review,” literary magazine, earned another three citations at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) Conference held Saturday, April 5, in College Station.
Winners in all categories were selected from entries published between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2007.
Awards won the “Island Waves” reporters were:
Island Waves Staff – 2nd Place Newspaper Special Edition/Section “Apartment Guide”
Edith Delgado – 2nd Place Newspaper Sports Feature Story “Dietary Supplements”
Monica Cornell – Honorable Mention Newspaper News Photo “Demonstrations”
Elizabeth Perez – Honorable Mention Newspaper General Column “Oh Snap”
Edith Delgado – Honorable Mention Newspaper News Story “Mosque Shooting”
Kat Kaub – Honorable Mention Newspaper Illustration (non-photo) “Cover”
Kat Kaub – Honorable Mention Newspaper Feature Page Design “Grindhouse”
Garrett Wieland – Honorable Mention Op/Ed Page Design – Aug. 30 Issue
