CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –Eight local bands will vie for cash prizes and the unofficial bragging rights as “top rockers on campus” when they compete in “Battle of the Bands IX” Friday, April 18, from 7 p.m. to midnight on the Bay Hall Lawn at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The public is invited.
During the concert sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, bands will play 30-minute sets and will be judged on technical skill, creativity, stage presence, vocal skill and audience reaction. At least one member of each band must be a student at the University. The band lineup is Holiday Hawks, Pyrosona, Jokes on You, Marshall Influence, Electric Mangrove, David & the Black Panda, The Chilton Classic and Dead Mike.
The top band will be awarded $500; the second-place band will take home $350; and the third-place band will receive $250. |
