President’s Picnic, Book Reception to be Held in Conjunction with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s 60th Anniversary

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will celebrate its 60th birthday at the President’s Picnic Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lee Fountain Plaza.

Students, faculty and staff will enjoy free food, musical chairs and other games and activities, and performances by the Islander Cheerleaders and Dance Team. The event is sponsored by the Student Activities’ Waves of Welcome committee.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., an opening reception for the photography exhibit “Images from the Book: The Island University” will be held in the Mary and Jeff Bell Library. The preview will highlight selected images from the new book, “The Island University” that will be unveiled at the State of the University Address to be presented by University President Dr. Flavius Killebrew on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the American Bank Center.
