CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Department of Art at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will hold an opening reception for Kelly G. Amen’s exhibit “No Shortage Here, No Shortage There” Friday, Sept. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Islander Art Gallery in the Hamlin Center located at 4024 Weber Road. The public is invited to meet the artist.
The exhibit, which will run through Sunday, Oct. 21, features the functional art of the renowned Houston-based furniture artist, who will explore the crossroads of creativity and violence through the investigation of the valuable commodity of fossil fuels.
This exhibition will also feature the works of artists Mary Miller, Philip Renteria, Mark Hougham and Sergio Santos, who employ a variety of different media including painting, poetry and installations. For more information, call 361.852.3350. |
