World Affairs Council of South Texas to Present Speaker on Campus to Discuss Climate Change and Energy Security

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The World Affairs Council of South Texas will present Paul Lynch, Her Britannic Majesty’s Consul-General in the Houston office of the British Consulate, who will speak on “Climate Change and Energy Security” Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Center for Instruction, Room 109, at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The event is free and open to the public.

Lynch will discuss how the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which includes all UK embassies worldwide, works though issues related to a changing climate including higher temperatures and carbon dioxide levels in the air, rising sea levels and melting glaciers that threaten nature, the economy, energy security and the environment.

Lynch has a B.S. in psychology from Hatfield Polytechnic and a master’s degree in social psychology from the London School of Economics. His experience includes policy jobs on prisoners’ rights, police and race relations, and governmental response to the Royal Commission on Criminal Justice, which included steering the Criminal Justice Act through Parliament.

The same day at noon, Lynch will speak at a World Affairs Council luncheon at the Omni Bayfront Tower.
The Council is a non-profit, non-partisan organization seeking to foster a better understanding of international affairs and the global community.
