WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Women’s Center for Education and Service at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will host a “Celebration of Women in the Arts” Thursday, Nov. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the University Center, Lone Star Ballroom.

Showcasing an array of women’s artistic talents, the celebration will include singing and guitar solos and performances by the Islander Corp Auxiliary Performers, University jazz dance class and the Middle Eastern Dance Club. Performances will begin at 6 p.m. and the event is free and open to the public.

Interactive stations will feature stress-relief techniques with University yoga instructor Bobbie Geffert, pastry decorating with Amigo’s Bakery, belly dance basics with the Middle Eastern Dance Club and knitting with student Chesney Migl. Campus organizations Omega Phi Alpha (OPA) and Together Islanders Develop Excellence (TIDE) will offer greeting cards and canvas bags to decorate for the Women’s Shelter of South Texas. Henna artist Sandi Clark will provide free henna art and local student vendors will display art, jewelry, food items, handbags and photography.
