Provost Wheeless Steps Down from Post, Will Return to Teaching

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi President Flavius Killebrew announced today that Provost Virginia Wheeless is stepping down from her post effective Monday, March 19.

Wheeless, who joined A&M-Corpus Christi August 15 last year, is taking administrative leave because of family health problems. She will return to teaching as a full professor of communication at the University in Fall 2007.

Dr. Killebrew said he will begin an immediate search for an interim provost. He added that an interim provost could be named by the end of the week. Until that time, Paul Orser, Associate Vice President for Planning and Effectiveness, will assume the daily operation of the provost’s office.
