CORPUS CHRISTI – More than 100 high school students from across the Coastal Bend will participate in the Go Center Training Session Luncheon at Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Hotel Tuesday, June 5, from 12:20 to 1:20 p.m.

Go Centers, part of the U.S. Department of Education’s federally funded Title V Cooperative Grant and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s “Closing the Gaps” efforts, adopted in 2001, are aimed at increasing student enrollments and success in Texas colleges and universities. Go Centers are being implemented in communities across the state to help recruit students into higher education.

Go Centers are located on middle and high school campuses where they serve as a point of coordination between students, P-12 counselors and institutions of higher education. At the Go Center, students have access to a variety of resources to help them better prepare and plan for college.

The campaign goal is to enroll 630,000 academically prepared students by 2015, 430,000 beyond the 200,000 expected to attend college at current rates.

The luncheon is part of a day-long training conducted by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College.
