More Than 400 Graduates to Receive Diplomas during Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Summer Commencement

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will hold its 2007 summer commencement Saturday, Aug. 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the American Bank Center Arena, 1901 N. Shoreline Blvd.

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Wes Tunnell, associate director of the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies. Tunnell, a member of the University faculty for more than 30 years, is a broadly trained marine biologist/ecologist and veteran of numerous ocean expeditions, many to remote regions of the Gulf of Mexico.

U.S. Rep. Solomon P. Ortiz, who has served the 27th Congressional District in the House of Representatives since 1982, will address the graduates by pre-recorded video broadcast. Ortiz is dean of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Texas House Democrats.

In all, 419 students from the Colleges of Business, Education, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Science and Technology have applied for summer graduation.
