CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi President Dr. Flavius Killebrew, Izzy the Islander mascot and alumni will welcome incoming students to the Islander family Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. during the Islander Shrimp Boil Send-Off Party at the Performing Arts Center.
           
Dr. Killebrew will address new students, their parents and alumni from the Corpus Christi area between 7 and 7:30 p.m. The event will provide guests an opportunity to meet Dr. Killebrew, Izzy, students, parents and alumni. Mentoring opportunities will be available.
 
The shrimp boil is sponsored by the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Alumni Association, the Parents’ Council and Islander Moms. The purpose of the Corpus Christi Area Alumni Chapter is to support and promote education, networking, service and scholarships among Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s alumni in the Corpus Christi area. The local shrimp boil is one of five shrimp boils being held in Houston, San Antonio, Austin and McAllen.
