Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Hurricane Dean Update
University Monitors Track; Monday will be Business as Usual

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Officials at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, meeting Sunday afternoon, Aug. 19, decided to continue monitoring Hurricane Dean because of the hurricane’s predicted path now showing a more southerly direction into Mexico.

Officials plan to meet early Monday to review Hurricane Dean’s path and its potential impact. The University has in place a hurricane defense plan that outlines actions required to overcome or minimize any hazards associated with hurricanes and tropical storms. The plan identifies procedures to support the safety of students and employees, and provides steps involved in securing physical facilities.

Classes for the fall semester begin Wednesday, Aug. 22. Students living on campus have been moving in since late last week.

The hurricane defense plan can be reviewed at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Website at Click “Hurricane Info” for access to the defense plan. The University’s Website home page will be used for continual updates.
