Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Theatre Department’s Production of ‘Bloody Poetry’ Receives National Recognition
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Five members of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s stage production of “Bloody Poetry” have received commendations from The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF).

Savannah Smith, a May 2007 graduate, received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance as Claire Claremont.

Charissa Graniero, a senior, received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance as Mary Shelley.
Ryan Couch, a senior, received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance as Percy Shelley.
Will Sessions, a senior, received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance as Lord Byron.
Chris L. Lusk, assistant professor of theatre and resident costume designer, received Outstanding Costume Design.

“Bloody Poetry,” a factional drama by British playwright Howard Brenton's about two poets of the Romantic Age, Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley, was presented by the University’s Theatre Department at last year’s KCACTF Regional Festival.

The awards were chosen from all the university productions entered in the country. After the theatre department’s production of “Bloody Poetry” was invited to the organization’s Regional Festival last year, it was also viewed by the KCACTF National Selection Committee, which sees all eight Regional Festivals across the country and then awards a small number of commendation awards to students and faculty.
