Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to Hold Memorial Service for Students Killed in Shooting Rampage at Virginia Tech

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Student Government Association at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will hold a memorial service for the more than 30 victims of this week’s massacre at Virginia Tech Friday, April 20 at 12:30 p.m. at the Hector P. Garcia Plaza.  The public is invited.

“The incident at Virginia Tech is a tragedy being felt by all universities and colleges across the nation,” said University President Flavius Killebrew. “Our hearts go out to the parents of Virginia Tech’s students who have been killed and injured.
Many are suffering greatly today, and the Virginia Tech community of students, faculty, staff and parents is in our thoughts”.

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has many forms of communication in place for informing our publics of a campus emergency. In an emergency, the University will:

• Post information to the University Web site homepage.
• Send an e-mail to all faculty, staff and students
• Send a telephone voicemail to all Camden Miramar residents
• Send a telephone voicemail to all faculty and staff offices
• Activate the 1-800 emergency number for information updates
• Place announcements on monitors in campus buildings
• Notify the area news media
• Place signage at the entry to campus
           
Following the service, University administrators and counseling personnel will be available to answer media questions.
