CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The winners of the 2006-2007 Haas Writing Awards will be honored at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19 in the Center for Instruction, Room 128.
The awards presented by the English Department at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi recognize both undergraduate and graduate students for outstanding writing. The awards are made possible through a donation by Paul and Mary Haas.
Dr. Oscar De Los Santos, a noted scholar and author at Western Connecticut State University, will speak on “Writing in the 21st Century: A Scribe-of-All-Trade’s Perspective.” A native of Corpus Christi and a graduate of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, De Los Santos received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He is the author of Hardboiled Egg, Spirits of Texas and New England, and co-author of Infinite Wonderlands with Dr. David Mead, chairperson of the English Department at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. |
