Breast Cancer Survivors Share Their Stories at Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event
 
In observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will host the third annual “Paint the Island Pink” on Thursday, Oct. 5 from noon to 2 p.m. in the University Center, Lone Star Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.

 “Paint the Island Pink” is an educational event to promote cancer resources, awareness of the disease, and the importance of early detection. A panel of speakers will present and answer questions concerning the disease from noon to 1 p.m. and answer questions from 1 to1:30 p.m. The panel includes breast cancer survivors’ Cinda LeBus, director of education for Planned Parenthood, and Jane Bourquard Ibanez, trainer and motivational speaker. Dr. Gerard Voorhees, radiation oncologist with the Corpus Christi Cancer Center will answer questions. An expo showcasing the treatment, care and support options available will be held from 1 to 2 p.m.
