High School Students and Recent Grads to Walk the Stage during Upward Bound’s Summer Academic Institute Closing Ceremony
High school students and recent graduates participating in the Upward Bound program will take part in a closing ceremony Friday, July 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Warren Theatre located in the Center for the Arts at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
The 57 participants in Upward Bound’s Summer Academic Institute are separated into two groups, Bridge students and Non-Bridge students. The Non-Bridge students, who rang from grades 9 through 12, are taking non-credit enrichment courses such as English, Spanish, journalism, government, and cultural awareness. Bridge students are high school graduates who, depending on their major, are enrolled in one or two classes at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for Summer Session I.
Upward Bound is a year-round project funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The program helps generate the skills and motivation necessary for students to complete high school and pursue a higher education. |
